Art Reproducing Art: Riso Print

Image created by Ingrid at the Copy That workshop, Art Reproducing Art, with an Aura of Tradition, with The Morecambe Community Riso Press. Using archivally sourced materials, including photographs, film stills and prints of local social history from 1890 to the mid 1920’s. Under the guidance of collage artist Rosie-Tacon-Glass, the image was created using collages exploring some history around Karel Klíč and utilising the Riso printing process with Charlotte Done and The Morecambe Community Riso Press. Riso printing is a fun and quick way to scan & print, using non-toxic vibrant ink made from rice bran oil.

Using alternative photographic printmaking, the image highlights the distinctive and different types of photographic prints that are possible using light. Cyanotype prints, including toning, create stunning images such as this well-known M6 landmark.
Smartphone to Photocopier

Photography and copying have always gone hand-in-hand. Ginny Koppenhol’s Copy That Smartphone workshop, helped to create this image by Lana using editing skills and encourage and a playful imagination. The image captures of the patterns of visual experience of daily life. The piece was created using a photocopier through layering and embellishing photos, to create a striking experimental image, to convey an element of individual identity and telling part of their story. The photocopier in the creative process allows us to play with layers that represent the various facets of our human experiences, opinions and personalities.
Collaged Postcard

The image was collaged from source material about Karel Klíč, his life and work, and of course his strong connection to Lancaster. The image was created for an abstract postcard celebrating Karel Klíč’s life and adding a short message on the back of their postcards to a friend or relative, describing an imaginary meeting with Karel Klíč during the 1890’s when he would have been working with the Storey Brothers.
